Hiking Staff Medallions

Here is a link to the company I contacted. L. W. Bristol.  http://www.lwbristol.com/hiking_staffs_and_medallions.htm

Bristol's quote was $1.95 for 250 ($487.50) plus $170 set up - $657.50 ($2.63 each plus mailing)

I am also going to call a California company called Hike America. They supply all the BSA medallions, which I have posted a few examples at   www.letterboxing.org/lbna/medallions.htm

We will see where this leads, but the initial $$ outlay was a bit more then I expected.

Jay (and and group):

I looked at the medallion websites - WOW!! I heartily support the
medallion effort...but I haven't come up with a "funding" solution,
yet. Those order minimums and setup fees are tough.

BTW, Jay C: I noted that the Bristol site does not sell directly to
the public--only to licensed organizations. Even if the initial
layout hurdle was overcome, how would we get around the "exclusive
reseller" thing?

Boy, I really like those medallions...

I am not sure about the resell thing.... I haven't talked a lot of detail with them, just exchanged a couple of email about costs.

Please keep me informed about the order for these. I have a friend that's not on the list but is interested in getting one.

It looks like there are a good number of folks getting the
medallions. Just a reminder, I will be taking orders through
12/15/2003. Please try to have your orders placed with me by then.
If you are mailing payments close to the order date, please be sure
you email me so I am sure to order enough.

I don't think I will mind coordinating another order in the future,
but I am not sure how long it will be until we get enough folks to do
this again.

Get yours while they are hot!

Jim

I just got my hiking staff medallions in the mail and they are gorgeous,
gorgeous, gorgeous. They're prettier than I ever expected.

Mr. Dillon, thank you so much for doing all the "legwork" to get these made!

I am taking orders for hiking staff medallions again. You can see
what they look like by going to the files section of this talk list
and looking under Medallions. They are $3.35 each.I will be taking
orders through 3/15/2004. I expect the medallions will be on their
way to you around mid-late April.

I am not sure how long it will be before I take orders again. I
would recommend that you get on the list this time around if you want
them.

Please send payments to:

James Dillon
PO Box 15
Talisheek, LA 70464

checks, money orders, cash, coins are all OK.

I can also accept paypal payments, but not with a credit card. It
must be an echeck. Send paypal payments to n0kwa @ bellsouth.net
Please note that is a ZERO between the N and K. Also take the spaces
out. I needed to do it that way so it would show on here.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Jim Dillon

They are thin metal squares with the LbNA logo on it. You nail it to
you hiking staff with the nails provided. J. Dillon is taking orders
now. There is a pic in the files section of this forum.
